about

Art As Catharsis are proud to bring you ‘The Ashes Belong To You’, a deep listening experience rooted in meditative, organic drone from the Australian duo Temple.

Temple’s Grant Bissett and Brian O'Dwyer have a shared love of deep listening experiences and drone music. Through this shared passion came a strong desire to collaborate across a set of longform drone pieces exploring minimalism in tone and organic sequence.

The result is ‘The Ashes Belong To You', a dark, ambient, lofi drone experience featuring conventional instrumentation juxtaposed with field recordings. Drawing inspiration from artists like Ben Frost, Bohren & Der Club Of Gore and Ben Chatwin, this album is intended to assist deep concentration and encourage attentiveness, whether that be internally or externally, as an aid in meditation, or as a guide through workflow.

Brian O'Dwyer has released several solo drone and experimental albums through Bleeemo Music. He is also a prolific experimental drummer having released albums across numerous genres and bands including; Warpigs, MNMM, Adam Simmons Vs Brian O'Dwyer, Stoning, Insufficient Parental Figure, Random Violence, Sun Of Clark, and Running With Scissors. He currently performs live with Gelareh Pour's Garden and ZÖJ.

Grant Bissett makes improvised and reperformable music informed by punk rock and North Indian classical percussion. Grant is interested in sound as furniture, as medicine, and as a starting point for naive ontological enquiry. Grant is a tabla student under Glen Kniebeiss and Aloke Dutta.
